New LLC guide
A D-U-N-S Number is how Dun & Bradstreet files a company in its database โ the record that vendors and lenders check when they underwrite a business. It is often the first "credit identity" a new LLC gets, and it's the one most commonly upsold.
The D-U-N-S request at dnb.com is free. Issuance is commonly measured in weeks, not hours. That wait is annoying โ it is not a reason to pay a reseller.
Paid DUNS-acceleration products sell two things: speed, and a formatted application. Neither changes D&B's own verification process. What they can do is create a second submission of your company's information, filed slightly differently than your own free request โ a second version of the identity you are trying to keep consistent everywhere else.
If you're running Ignition's Sprint Pass, this matters for a concrete reason: paid "faster DUNS" products void the 30-day guarantee. Not because we're strict for its own sake โ because a forked identity is the single most common reason a vendor's underwriting can't match your file to your LLC.
The D-U-N-S request doesn't have to finish before you move forward. Submit it early (day 3โ4 of a 30-day sprint is typical), then keep working: finish business checking, submit your vendor applications, and place your first small orders. Some vendors extend terms without waiting on a published D&B score at all โ trade credit is a supplier's decision, not a bureau's.
The Sprint Pass includes the DUNS request packet, three vendor applications, and a dated 30-day checklist โ with a refund if the LLC still has no vendor net-30 line after you run it on time.
